Finishing works on one of Nottingham’s new landmarks, built as part of the city’s tram expansion project, are set to be completed as testing on the new line to Chilwell steps up a gear.

Temporary construction components on the Ningbo Friendship Bridge are to be removed during overnight works on March 16.

The work will see the temporary closure of Clifton Boulevard, between the Queens Medical Centre roundabout and the Dunkirk flyover, from 8pm to 5am. Access to the QMC will be maintained throughout the night, and a signed diversion route will be in place for through traffic.

A spokesman for the NET Phase Two Project explained: “This essential work is being carried out at night to reduce the impact on traffic in the area, but we apologise for any inconvenience caused and we will do everything possible to keep disruption to a minimum.

“The completion of this impressive steel bowstring bridge represents yet another example of how major construction work is drawing to a close as the testing programme becomes more intense.”
