BBC Test Match Special commentator Henry Blofeld, covering his last Test Match at Trent Bridge before he retires at the end of the season, has received a special cake from Nottingham City Council to mark the occasion!

Henry, affectionately known as Blowers, has become well known over the years for his love of cakes and mentioning the green NCT buses he sees travelling around the ground while commentating at Trent Bridge.

The cake, baked by Trish Howard, Catering Supervisor at Haydn Primary School in Sherwood, Nottingham, was presented to Henry by none other than the Sheriff of Nottingham, Councillor Glyn Jenkins.

The Sheriff said:  “Henry has said many times over his long, distinguished radio career how much he loves coming to Nottingham to cover Test Matches and he never fails to mention the green buses during his commentary.”

“It was a pleasure and an honour to present the cake to Henry to mark his last Test Match at Trent Bridge and very many thanks to Trish Howard for baking such a fantastic cake before preparing school meals for the children at Haydn Primary School!”
